Charlie Faoro followed up his pitcher-of-the-week award with a stellar outing as the Panthers took home a big win over the Joliet Generals.

Faoro threw all seven innings giving up only two runs on six hits. He also struck out eight Generals increasing his season total to 50 in the 4-2 Panthers win.

“[Faoro] is getting better and better.” Head Coach D’Vante Glenn said after the game, “Him competing at this level is great.”

The Panthers offense scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning. Maurey Garrett had an RBI single scoring Adrian Swiech, who had reached on an error. Jimmy Gurgone had the big hit two batter later with a two-RBI triple scoring Garrett and Peter Fusek before later scoring on a Connor Janik groundout.

“When we have a great outing from our pitcher we love to see our offense be able to step up and get them a win.” Glenn said.

The Panthers also had a shaken up defensive alignment today with Garrett getting a rare outfield start and Swiech getting only his second infield start of the season. Despite this, the Panthers were able to have a clean game defensively with no errors. Glenn attributes this flexibility to his team’s love of the game.

"When we are out there having fun and playing loose we win ballgames like this.” Glenn said.

With the win, the Panthers move to within 2.5 games of the Northern League Playoffs with nine games remaining in the season. The Panthers will get a big test in their next game on Wednesday as they play the Lake County Corn Dogs at Legacy Fields in Crown Point, Indiana.
